Dear Congress Participants:

On behalf of the International Society for Aging and Physical Activity, I congratulate the Program Committee of the 2008 World Congress on Aging and Physical Activity for the hard work that has gone into the preparation of our 7th World Congress. Examination of the preliminary program underscores the breadth of research interests of the ISAPA membership. I am certain that many of the papers presented at this meeting will provide you with a glimpse of the future directions that our field will take. ISAPA is excited at the prospect of partnering with the University of Tsukuba bring the 7th World Congress to Asia for the first time. The conference will be held at the University of Tsukuba which is widely recognized to be among the premier research universities in Japan. Tsukuba is located in a quiet and serene environment that is an ideal location for a world congress. The University of Tsukuba has developed a state of the art research and conference center which is located adjacent to the campus of the university and next to a beautiful Japanese style garden that is ideal for strolling, exercising, and sharing relaxing conversations. I am excited at the prospect of meeting many of you again in Tsukuba in 2008!

Dear Congress Participants:

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, the many Japanese scientists and health professionals involved in the field of Aging and Physical Activity, and my research group at the University of Tsukuba, I wish to extend a warm welcome to all delegates at the 7th World Congress for Aging and Physical Activity. The congress will have something for everyone. Plenary and state of the art lectures, symposia, free communications, a debate, and several hundred posters will highlight the latest research in successful aging, healthy aging, and active aging. In addition, there will be a track devoted to clinicians and other health professionals who want the latest evidence-based approaches to successful aging. We would be delighted if you take the opportunity to extend your visit in the city, Ibaraki prefecture, and even other parts of the country. Again, a very warm welcome to our colleagues from around the globe.

Kiyoji Tanaka, Ph.D.
